The cataclysm known as “The Doom of Valyria” was long gone. It caused the loss of the world’s most advanced civilization, with all its knowledge, and its dragons. A century later, the only living remainder is the Targaryen family, based in Dragonstone. At his command is a young Aegon, with his dragon Balerion, who receives the visit of an emissary.
Valyria also left, within its vast legacy, what are now known as “The Free Cities”. Nine cities, each with its independent government, located across the Narrow Sea, from Westeros.
Volantis is the oldest of them all. It was the first colony of the Valyrian Freehold and still maintains many of its traditions. In the hundred years after the Doom of Valyria, they considered themselves heirs to the Freehold and legitimate rulers of the world. For a century, they fought other villages and their fleet took Lys and his army Myr. In addition, they extended their authority through the southern Rhoyne.
The emissary presented to Aegon comes precisely from Volantis, to ask him to join their cause to take Tyrosh, another of the Free Cities. Although Aegon declines the invitation, Volantis still sends his troops to try to conquer Tyrosh. But the city resists, with the help from Pentos, another Free City. The prince and magysters of Pentos meet Aegon to create an alliance… You will have to take on Aegon’s shoes!
